4 Way Test Speech Contest Mar 2, 2017 Students from Margaretta HS, Sandusky HS, Perkind HS, and St. Mary Catholic HS, each presented an original speech with the theme of Rotary International's 4 Way Test. The winner, Sandusky High School. Congratulations to the winner and to all the Teachers, Parents, and Students who delivered outstanding speeches today.
District 6600 CELEBRATION Dinner Feb 18, 2017 Sandusky Rotary Club Leaders and guests joined close to 200 District 6600 Rotarians in celebrating 100 years of the Rotary Foundation at a Black Tie Optional Event.
Rotary Clothes Kids Dec 3, 2016 Shopping one child at a time, Rotarians are matched with a child and at the end of the shopping experience each child has 125 dollars worth of new clothes, shoes or boots, and if on the list, a coat. No hand me downs this year. Close to 299 children enjoy the Clothes Kid shopping experience each Holiday Season. Thanks to Meiers for added savings and treating our shoppers so well each year. The annual Rotary Pizza Challenge supports this program each year.
The Funny Side of Politics Nov 3, 2016 Jim O. Miller spoke to the Club just a week before the Presidential Election as he has done for the last two Presidential Elections. The subject was the humor and little known but fun stories of campaigns past. With no Internet and Twitter in early 1900's and most that centurry, it takes the insight of history buffs like Jim to bring the elections to life.
Rotary Watershed Conference in Toledo Oct 28, 2016 Four members of the Sandusky Rotary Club attended Toledo Rotary's Second Annual Watershed Conference at Seagate in Toledo along with three hundred supporters of protecting thre lake and educators on the health of Lake Erie. Both Canada and Ohio / Michigan organizations and Rotarians were in attendance.
Rotarians at Sandusky Schools Parent Summit Oct 22, 2016 Rotarians are leaders who take action. Many Club Members work with local schools. That was very apparent Saturday at Sandusky HS. Whether at Table Top Exhibits representing leading local Organizations or as members of the Sandusky City Schools Board or Leadership Team, being at the Parent Summit was important. The Planning Committee, in fact included Pres. Pam, Past Pres. Maris, and active members Thanda, Molly, John, Charlene, Dan, Lisa, Andy, Tom, and Dr, Sanders.
Orlando Pace Day Oct 6, 2016 A winning lunch for Rotarians, Sandusky School Leaders and Alumni, And Rotary Students of the month welcoming NFL Hall of Famer Orlando Pace to his day!!! Senator Randy Governor and House Representative also presented Big O with Congressional Proclamations.
Police, Sheriff, and Fire Chief Honored Aug 25, 2016 Sandusky Rotarians presented the Chiefs and leaders of Sandusky and Erie County's Law Enforcement Community and First Resonders with Paul Harris Fellow recognition. Paul Harris Fellow is one of the highest and most recognizable of the recognition levels in Rotary. Each one represents at a minimum a one thousand dollar donation in the Chief or Sheriff's name to The Rotary Foundation. The honor is in appreciation for the Community Policing and the work of local Fire Departments in the community.
Paul Harris Day Aug 25, 2016 More than 16 Rotarians were recognized with Paul Harris Fellows at Rotary today. Two first timers were Neal Gray and Steven Patterson. It was especially impressive to see that both these great Rotarians had family with them at the PH Luncheon to help cheer them on.

These were Paul Harris + 1, Paul Harris + 3, Paul Harris + 4, +7, and two plus TEN. The Rotary Foundation does good 24/7 around the world and all of these members are making an awesome impact on many lives. Congratulations and tank you all.
Annual Club Picnic Aug 18, 2016 Each year, Sandusky Rotarians enjoy a family picnic at Osborne Park in Sandusky. This year with a clear and sunny late afternoon, it seemed like no one wanted to miss the fun... And the great grilled food prepared by Mesenburg Catering in Huron. Marilyn Koby, Cheron Rebok, and our little future Rotarian Macie Grace were among the special guests.

And Jim Colett at an Oberlin Wine Eveving in Oberlin.
DacDB ...designed to help connect Rotarians Aug 11, 2016 How to access and use the District 6600 website was the subject of Dianne Brehm's presentation at today's luncheon meeting. Dianne is the District 6600 Secretary. dacDB is now an app too! It allows members to easily access info and connect with members and clubs. Their own. And, the 64 other clubs in the District. It is password protected.
Rotary Fantasy Football 1st Trophy Winner Aug 11, 2016 Andy Gundlach was presented the first ever Rotary Fantasy Football League Championship Trophy by Josh Mesenburg, League Commissioner. Andy will defend his championship this coming year with the Rotary Club Draft in early September for the 2016 NFL Season.

Second Harvest Food Truck Project keeps giving... Aug 4, 2016 On first TH of ea month , the 2nd Harvest Food Truck, which was donated by Sandusky Rotary Club along with 14 other D6600 Clubs and a District Grant delivers a truck filled with Fresh Produce for "food at risk" families in Sandusky. 546 family members received fresh produce this day. The truck also delivers to food banks, churches, and schools six days a week in Erie, Huron, & Lorain Counties. Thank you Sandusky Rotary Chaitable Fund.
HS Football Coaches Report on the upcoming season Aug 4, 2016 As is a tradition at Sandusky Rotary Club, local HS Footbsll Coaches are an August Program and members enjoy the competitive banter and team updates by each on the upcoming football season. This year we were treated to may of the Principals (new at Perkins. New at Sandusky HS) as well as a visit by a legendary Sandusky HS Coach, Larry Cook.

Always a great time to mingle and meet spouses, friends, and even potential new members. BNB has great Hors D's. Just ask a Rotarian.
DG Do Nguyen Installation for 2016 2017 Jun 24, 2016 Gary Newton, DG for 2015 2016 turned over the gavel for Rotary District 6600 to Do Nguyen. New Club Pres Pam Brumbaugh with husband Michael as well as newly installed Program Chair and VP, Jim Collet attended along past District Governors, District Leaders, & Club Presidents from Oberlin, Vermilion, Perrysburg, & Maumee. Maris Brenner, Sandusky Rotary PP was also inducted as District Goveror Nominee. District 6600 consist of 64 Clubs (Toledo to Lima and Bowling Green to Oberlin).
Installation of President Pam Jun 23, 2016 Jim Scherger ends an outstanding year as Sandusky Rotary Club President and the new Board Officers and Pam Brumbugh, President Elect, were sworn in. Pam is the fourth woman President of the Sandusky Club its 98 years. Also installed was Josh Mesenburg as President Elect , First Vice President and Jim Collet as Second Vice President, Program Chair.

This year it was all about Extreme Wheels. Quite fun. Then many stay for the rides and more fellowship with members, families? And friends.
Rotary After 5 at Catawba Island Brewing Jun 8, 2016 Rotarians took a casual drive across the bridge to enjoy RA5 at Catawba Island Brewing. Tour behind the scenes. Good Fellowship. Great Beer Tasting. Hot Blonde and Lake Erie Love brews were among favorites. Also took some fun shots for the Ohio Tourism Website.
  Stamp Out Hunger May 14, 2016 What a difference a year make! Thanks to Sandusky Rotary's donation to U.S. postal Workers, the annual Stamp Out Hunger food collection received 4 times the number as in 2015. The reason, big Brown Bags delivered to home mail boxes the week of collection making it easy to gather the cans as well as a physical reminder to leave by the mail box on the Saturday of Stamp Out Hunger Day!!! Thank you Rotary and the postal workers & United Way Volunteers who picked up the Bags this Sat.
Rotary After 5 with IYFR at Crows Nest Apr 13, 2016 What a great night at the Crows Nest in Marblehead. The Eastern Squadron of IYFR was chartered and includes Rotarians from Sandusky, Huron, Port Clinton, Vermilion, and Norwalk Clubs. Sandusky Rotarians came out BIG time for the first of our RA5's across the Bridge. Thanks to Crows Nest for great appetizers and Happy Hour Drink Prices.
Rotary After 5 Crows Nest in Marblehead Apr 12, 2016 Mark your calendars now. Marla and John Skweres are getting ready to welcome Rotarians and friends to their lake side gathering place. WED April 13th. You will want to stay for dinner but before that, Marla will be shaking up a Marlatini or one of your favorite drinks. And, John will be sure there are some great Hors D's. Members of IYFR, the Sandusky Club, Port Clinton Rotarians and even a few from Huron and Oak Harbor have promised to be there.
And The Second Harvest Truck keeps giving... Apr 6, 2016 Krogers opened a new mega store. As part of the opening celebration a gift of food & dollars was presented to Second Harvest Food Bank of North Central Ohio. All applicable cans, boxes, and even fresh Produce still left on the shelves of the old store on moving day... was loaded onto the Second Harvest truck (donated by Sandusky Rotary along with 15 other clubs) for delivery to local Food Charity Organizations. The truck also visits Sandusky each Monday and Wednesday with deliveries and pick ups.
Rotary Pizza Challenge at SHS Mar 22, 2016 At a new venue this year, SHS. It was awesome. Lots of volunteers from the Rotary Club of Sandusky. 14 Pizza Vendors. Some VIP and special visitors. Over 1000 locals in attendance. And, great assist from Dr. Eugene Sanders and his leadership Students. WOW!!! And, thank you to all.

The State of the City - SANDUSKY -2016 thru 2020 Mar 10, 2016 Eric Wobser, City Manager, and City Commissioner, Dennis Murray delivered an exciting and promising look at the City of Sandusky today and where it will be in five to ten years. We, at Rotary, were privileged to be the site for this City of Sandusky Bicentennial Vision. Close to 200 were in attendance with at least one hundred our members.

FOUR WAY TEST Speech Contest Mar 3, 2016 Three talented High School Students presented their interpretation and speech based on the 4 Way Test. As in years past, the creativity and talent was entertaining and impressive. Jared Taylor of Perkins HS was announced as this year's champion and in addition to receiving a check from Sandusky Rotary Club, will compete against other Rotary Club winners for the District 6600 Championship. Chris Dudenhoefer of St. Mary Central Catholic HS and Kristen Yost of Margaretta HS were both impressive as well.
Erie County Metro Parks Feb 18, 2016 The presentation on Erie Metro Parks was a fun look at our area Parks and a collection of numbers that surprised even long time residents. We are certainly blessed to have such green spaces in our county.
Tim Monaco - OH Secretary Of States Office Feb 18, 2016 Tim is the Northwest Ohio Regional Liaison for the OH Secretary of State's Office. The timing was perfect as he filled us in on little know facts on voting in OH. And, had amazing examples of how important one vote is in elections. There were 70 + elections or Levy Votes determined by less than three votes last year in the state. WOW!!!

Rotary Clothes Kids Nov 7th 1 of 5 weeks Nov 7, 2015 Always a favorite time of year for Sandusky Rotary Club members and their families and friends. Shopping for kids one at a time, for needed clothes. Many of these kids usually get hand me downs. Today and for all Saturdays of Rotary Clothes Kids, the kids get to choose their own new clothes. Rotarians (spouses and kids too) and Margaretta HS Seniors helped shop this week.

Second Harvest Refrigerated Truck Donation Oct 1, 2015 Sandusky joined with 16 other District 6600 Clubs via their Presidents Council to donate a new Refrigerated Truck to Second Harvest Food Bank of North Central Ohio. It will deliver Fresh Produce & Refrigerated Healthy Foods to Charitable Partners (i.e. United Ways, Schools, Care and Share, etc) in Erie, Huron, and Lorain Counties. Pictured with Truck are the 3 Assistant Governors, Doug Maurer, Steve Hosler, and Maris Brenner who coordinated the Presidents Council Donation and Grant Request.

September Meetings Sep 24, 2015 This September Rotary has hosted both excellent speakers and the Margaretta High School and Margaretta Schools "State of the Schools" Presentation. Three Seniors from MHS and their Superintendent, also a Rotarian, presented the program.
Rotary After 5 at Huron Yacht Club Sep 16, 2015 RA5 moved to Huron in September and members mingled and enjoyed the event with Huron Rotarians. Some members arrived by boat. Very cool.
Rotary Picnic at Osborne Park Aug 20, 2015 A beautiful sunny but cool night welcomed Sandusky Rotarians, their families, friends, and even a Rotaract student from Turkey. The food was abundant and picnic perfect. Thanks to Josh Mesenburg for leading the Picnic Team in last minute arrangements and as always Mesenburg Catering (not related to Josh) did an awesome job at the Grill.
Rotary After 5 at Dockside Cafe Aug 12, 2015 Weather was perfect and so was the fellowship and music. This is a favorite event for many of our members as it allows social time and getting to know the newer members each month. GTD. And once in a while like this RA5 at Dockside Café... a new baby comes along or even a favorite pet.
Rollin With Rotary Aug 3, 2015 Six quirky and energetic rp's and longtime Rotarians representing all Rotarians in Zones 28 and 29 visited Cedar Point on Monday with stories to tell about Rotary and Random Acts of Kindness to perform. Thanks to the generosity of Cedar Point, these six ambassadors for Rotary had great discount coupons to give out to Cedar Point goers. The wrapped and easy to notice Rollin With Rotary Bus was parked at the front gate for most of the day. A few Sandusky and Oberlin Rotarians even stopped in to help.
Thursday Meeting July 30th Jul 30, 2015 Todays meeting added another Rotarian to the Club when Andrew Kurtz, Interim Dean of BGSU Firelands Campus officially was inducted into the Club by John Bacon. The program was very informational and had many Rotarians thinking of the Greens... First Tee of Lake Erie was an excellent program.
A fond farewell to Gene Koby Jul 19, 2015 The Sandusky Rotary Club lost a special member and friend today. Eugene Koby, past President and a Paul Harris fellow multiple times. Active with MESA and know as Keeper of the Flags to District 6600. He will be missed.

Rotary After 5 and IYFR Jul 8, 2015 This month for Rotary After 5 Sandusky Rotarians mingled and met with the International Yachting Rotary Fellowship squadron at Damons and learned how they could join other IYFR Rotarians on the water this summer. No boat needed.
Rotarians About Town Jul 7, 2015 Rotarians are business and community leaders and it is not uncommon to see them at many business, chamber, community, and worthy events each month. This month, Rotarians joined other leaders in thanking Rotarian Dr. Bill Balzer for his many years at the BGSU Firelands Campus. He has recently been promoted to the BGSU Campus. Jim Miller received recognition from the Erie County Chamber for his company, CIVISTA. And ... more faces were seen at State Theatre, Huron Playhouse, etc.
Cedar Point Day at Lusty Lils Jun 11, 2015 After a great picnic lunch Rotarians & guests made their way to Lusty Lil's for a live stage show. It was filled with mentions of Sandusky and Rotary and awesome performances. Might be the best one we've seen!! The live show is a part of an annual day at Cedar Point. We're never sure what the show will be until we arrive. The surprise is always entertaining and we so appreciate the warm welcome each year for our Luncheon,Show, and later...for the members and guests who can stay to enjoy the Park.
Rotary Day at Cedar Point Jun 11, 2015 Once each year, the Sandusky Rotary Club moves its weekly meeting to Cedar Point and Cedar Point treats us like VIP's. The food is always great either at one of the restaurants or at the outdoor pavilion and this year was no exception. Then .. we are treated to a live Stage Show. This year, we went to Lusty Lils and the show was awesome. Here are some smiles and cheers from the day at Cedar Point.

Rotary After 5 Margarittaville Jun 10, 2015 On the second Wednesday of each month,Sandusky Rotarians and some spouses, friends, and even co workers gather for Rotary After 5. With the help of the Restaurants ... we get a few specials and / or even appetizers... and pay for our own drinks. Many of us stay after for dinner as it is a great time for fellowship and date nights. This Wednesday we were at Margarittaville and had a great time.
More New Rotarians welcomed to the Club Jun 4, 2015 Staci Lehmkuhl and Charlene Adams were inducted into the Sandusky Rotary Club on the first TH of June. Their sponsors, John Hildebrandt and John Hufnagle, respectively did the introductions and John Bacon led the ceremony.
City of Sandusky Program May 28, 2015 It is not uncommon to find major organizations, schools, and yes, even cities selecting a Rotary Meeting to roll out new programs or provide updates for major projects. In May, Rotarians heard from City Mgr, Eric Wobser as well as Dennis Murray, City Commission Pres. on the Future Vision of the city of Sandusky. One message heard clearly was the invite for all Rotarians, residents, and business leaders to provide feedback via a survey now in play on what is needed in the next 5 to 10 years in Sandusky.

NorthCoast Poker Championships Feb 6, 2015 Each year, Members deal cards and other volunteer tasks for NorthCoast Poker Championships to earn funds for Rotary S.T.A.R.S at Sandusky State Theatre. These $'s have allowed more than 2600 kids (4 local schools) to be introduced to Live Performing Arts either at State Theatre, at the schools via a workshop, and / or assembly. This year, despite frigid weather, Poker Players still came to the live money games and volunteers spent Fri and Sat making the event a success.
Students of the Month February 2015 Feb 5, 2015 Each month the Rotary Club of Sandusky honors student leaders from each of our are schools. This month from Margaretta: Lily Adams and Jonan Stanley: from SMCC Julia Calderon and Ciara Fulton; from Sandusky HS: Michelle Miller and Ben Fuller ; and from Perkins HS Sidney Landis and Nick Reyes. The students are invited to attend each of the four luncheon meetings in February and are introduced t the Club each week. Congratulations to Feburary's Best of the Best .
We DID it! 200 Rotary Clothes Kids Dec 13, 2014 This year Rotary had the chance to shop for 200 area children... one at a time in the Rotary Clothes Kid Program. December 13th was the final shopping day and as usual the pictures are so much better than words.

Rotary Clothes Kids moves to JC Penney Dec 6, 2014 Still more shopping for the kids at our traditional Rotary Clothes Kids. This Saturday we moved to JC Penney for our 7:30 am start. Once again, we could not shop for the 160 children to date without the help of the Margaretta HS, Perkins, and SMC Students joining us this season.

Rotary annual Christmas Luncheon Dec 4, 2014 The sounds of music filled the air as the Sandusky HS Bell Choir and KeyNotes entertained members of the Club at Plumbrook CC. The annual lunch included spouses and friends as well as Rotarians. A full house. Perkins HS Brass Ensemble began with bold Holiday Music. Then, as is tradition, the Bell Choir created unbelievable music with the Bells and Voices. 22 years ago, the Bells used by the choir were purchased by the Sandusky Rotary Club.

Great Program and we also appreciate the added help from Rotary family members, :Golden hand" Associates from Kalahari, and the students from Magaretta. SMC, and Perkins HS's.
November Students of the Month Nov 20, 2014 Each month Rotary honors 2 students from Margaretta, Perkins, St. Mary Catholic, and Sandusky High Schools who have been identified as leaders at their respective schools. These students join us for the Thursday Luncheon Meetings through out that month.
Andrew Dunn Scholarship Fund and Family Nov 16, 2014 This month, there were other local organizations which gave to the Andrew Dunn Children's Scholarship Fund that Rotary created. Great to see the two boys enjoying growing up and satisfying knowing that their college education is covered.

Community Trick Or Treat at Cedar Point Oct 22, 2014 Sandusky Rotary partnered with the Erie County Chamber of Commerce and the United Way of Erie County to hand out candy to 6000 plus kids along Cedar Points "Main Street" this year. Alison surprise us with an authentic Hearst for our display. A fun night. Lots of smiles and we ran out of Candy!!

Handing Out Books at Community Night Sep 16, 2014 At a UWEC Community Night on the YMCA property in Sandusky, 145 children's books were given out to children attending the event. The kids had a chance to pick out a book to take home from almost 200 gently used or recently purchased, then donated by Rotarians, books on display. It was part of the Literacy efforts of Rotary which also includes a Little Free Library at Facer Park and Reading to the Children at area Libraries on occasion.
Rotary After Five Aug 13, 2014 The second Wednesday of each month.. the option of getting together socially with friends and family and fellow Rotarians is a great program in itself. On occasion rather than at a bar or restaurant we find new and intersesting locations. In Aug we enjoyed the Landing overlooking Lake Erie at the Krabills. Good Food by LauraLee. Great views and weather. Lots of friends and Rotarians.
Light Up Rotary District 6600 Aug 1, 2014 A great night for fellowship and celebration at both the Toledo Mud Hens Game and the Lake Erie Crushers Baseball Games for Rotarians and their families / friends from District 6600. With 62 Clubs in our district, Sandusky attended with Bellevue, Oberlin, etc. at the Crushers game. A bonus for our club is our guest Angie Liom who was visiting from Malaysia and is a Rotaract member.
Paul Harris Day Jul 17, 2014 Celebrating local Community Leaders with a presentation of seven Paul Harris Pins and certificates. And, honoring our own members who have achieved Paul Harris Fellow giving level.
Rotary After 5 at Small City Taphouse Jul 9, 2014 Lots of Rotarians came to this month's Rotary After 5 and brought friends and family. Always the second Wednesday of a month, it is a great excuse to gather as well as experience one of our local restaurants or pubs. In this case, Small City Taphouse provided some sushi samples and attendees donated some more dollars towards End Polio Now. A fun night was had by all.

Cedar Point Day Jun 26, 2014 Once a year the luncheon meeting is at Cedar Point and members and families enjoy the food, a live show, and the park if they can find a way to stay in the afternoon.
Bridge Climb Sydney Australia Jun 5, 2014 During the RI Sydney Convention Rotarians broke records by having the most climbers from one organization climb the Bridge during the Conference. As a thank you and recognition for what Rotary stands for.. the BridgeClimb company donated 20% of all climbing fees over that ten day period to End Polio Now. The donation exceeded 300,000 dollars. Elaine and Maris of Sandusky Rotary completed the 3 1/2 hour climb. Here are some pictures that prove it!!

At left, the DJ interviews Miss Teen USA Hurricane Relief - Sandusky Rotary Hurricane Katrina was the eleventh named tropical storm, fourth hurricane, third major hurricane, and first Category 5 hurricane of the 2005 Atlantic hurricane season. Its storm surge soon breached the levee system. Most of the city was subsequently flooded mainly by water from the lake. This and other major damage to the coastal regions of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama made Katrina the most destructive and costliest natural disaster in the history of the United States.
  Rotary Clothes Kids From Sat. Nov 8th thru Sat, Dec 13th, Sandusky Rotarians and helpers from St. Mary Catholic, Margaretta, and Perkins HS as well as family & friends...SHOP for children. This year we're shopping for 200 kids,40 ea. Sat. Shoppers are matched to a child. Kids bring shopping lists with sizes, etc. Coats & Boots are often 1st on a list.It is a special experience that many Rotarians look forward to each year. The Annual March Pizza Challenge funds the shopping.
